What Pinezi is and where the prices come from

Pinezi is a free price comparison for Croatia’s supermarket chains, for locals and visitors alike. In one place you can see what the same product costs at Konzum, Lidl, Kaufland, Spar, Plodine, Studenac, Tommy, Eurospin, dm and a number of regional chains. Where the prices come from#

Pinezi does not copy prices from the shelves and does not buy data from retailers. Every price comes from the price lists that retailers are required to publish:

• The Act on Extraordinary Price Control Measures (NN 40/2025) (opens in a new tab) requires price lists to be published as XML or CSV files that can be downloaded automatically.
• Under Decision NN 75/2025 (opens in a new tab), supermarkets, hypermarkets, discounters and cash & carry stores with a website have been publishing a price list for every store by 8 a.m. each day since 15 May 2025. Among other things, it contains the barcode, the unit price and the promotional price, and the files stay online for 30 days.

Pinezi downloads these price lists automatically once a day and does not change the published prices. That is why a product sometimes shows a price range: different chains, and even different stores of the same chain, may charge different prices.

What changes on 1 October 2026#

From 1 October 2026, the publication duty is governed by Decision NN 101/2026 (opens in a new tab). From then on, all retailers and service providers with a website publish price lists, covering all products. New data: the anchor price, a promotion flag with the type of promotion, and availability in each store.

Price caps#

Since 1 December 2025, Decision NN 142/2025 (opens in a new tab) has set maximum prices for 100 items. For 29 products, no item may cost more than the maximum price; in 71 categories, at least one item must be priced at or below the maximum. The list is on the Price caps page.

Stores#

Store addresses come from the price lists themselves. We add locations and opening hours from OpenStreetMap data (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL licence).

Good to know#

• Until 1 October 2026, small shops are not covered by the publication duty. As long as a retailer does not publish a price list for a store, Pinezi cannot show it.
• We show prices exactly as the retailers publish them. The source price lists may contain errors that we cannot always detect. The price displayed in the store is binding.
• Pinezi is not affiliated with any retailer. Retailers do not pay to be listed or for their position.
